The new furniture line is inspired by Paramount’s “Yellowstone”

Teeter is back, flirting with the cowboys and stealing their hats, but something’s off about this image of one of the most eccentric characters to populate Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone.”

It’s not Montana, but rather High Point, North Carolina, global hub of the furniture industry, and it’s not really Teeter but his alter ego, actress Jennifer Landon, who jokes with the guys wearing cowboy hats. They are not cowboys, but designers responsible for the new Yellowstone Green Gables Furniture collection which has just launched at High Point Market.

In partnership with Paramount Network, Green Gables has designed and developed two Yellowstone collections that channel the live-wide, live-well spirit of the hit television series, which debuted its fifth season earlier this month. Now the rest of the world can enjoy the Dutton lifestyle, without the journeys to the station, of course.

Twice a year, High Point Market showcases the latest trends that are expected to drive a $500 billion+ global industry. Interest in the Duttons and their dysfunctional, yet addictive world, is so high that Green Gables generated abundant and understandable interest as soon as the collection arrived in the High Point showroom.

The Dutton Collection from the Yellowstone Furniture Series combines Arts and Crafts and Western Rustic for a comfortable, luxurious look with a history as colorful as the TV series. The naturally textured reclaimed wood seen in the case pieces, like the national park the TV series was named for, has stood the test of time.

Not only are these pieces unique in their design, but each element has a story and a story to tell, a story of ranchers and barns and endless western skies. The handles pay homage to the signature “Y” branding of the Dutton Ranch.

The Gallatin Valley collection nods to the rich history of American hickory furniture. As American settlers traveled west in the 1800s, they discovered the incredible strength and usefulness of hickory.

Strong and durable, hickory has played a vital role in crafting tools and furniture still used today in American households, hospitality spaces, and parks. The hickory saplings used in the Yellowstone Collection are sustainably harvested and handcrafted in the USA.

The “modern rustic” furniture reflects a trend towards comfortable, luxurious and also organic design. However, this was not the only fad to come to the industry.

Newstalgia, the latest collection from industry giant Universal Furniture, also made its High Point debut this fall. The collection should be particularly attractive to the great millennials, those people between 20 and 30 years old who have adopted the comforting style found in films such as “Home Alone” or “Father of the Bride”. Think Granny Chic.

Yes, the style isn’t new, but collections like Newstalgia put a fresh spin on an enduring trend by updating timeless silhouettes with clean architectural elements and fresh finishes.

“From spindle beds to tri-fold vanity mirrors, everything old is new again,” said Neil MacKenzie, vice president of marketing at Universal Furniture.

“We created Newstalgia with today’s traditional shopper in mind, with designs enduring in form, but updated with modern finishes.”

Designed to be both fresh and familiar, Newstalgia offers over 50 pieces in contemporary finishes such as Milkglass White, Starlite Blue and Jadeite Green.

The Morning Glory vanity chest, for example, updates Grandma’s tri-fold vanity with black metal hardware and a black-trimmed tri-fold mirror. The Birdsong straight-line utility cabinet is finished in Milkglass White with a touch of contract in the Starlite Blue back panel and is updated with a light strip attached behind the left-facing doors.

Clean lines never go out of style, and many of the product launches at High Point this fall took advantage of them. LA interior and product designer Erinn Valencich has teamed up with Universal for the Erinn V. collection, inspired by modern European, Japanese and Californian influences that showcase sculptural forms, a wide range of finishes and unexpected details such as leather trim on a mirror frame.

“They can either update a traditional space or warm up a modern home,” the designer said.

From the look of many High Point showrooms this fall, consumers’ thirst for interior spaces that envelop them in stylish comfort is being addressed by manufacturers. While collections like Yellowstone and Newstalgia may look very different, they’re both designed to make us feel happy and safe in our chosen nests, whether it’s New York or Bozeman.
