Diversity Advocacy Alliance forms to promote inclusivity within the industry

High Point Market Authority (HPMA) announces the formation of the Diversity Advocacy Alliance (DAA), formed to advance, enhance and support diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the industry. furnishings.

DAA is made up of fourteen founding members, including three from the current HPMA board, and is managed by social innovation company, Change Often. The group’s mission statement reflects a commitment to broadening representation of the BIPOC community and facilitating the implementation of fair policies and practices across the industry and its leaders.

“The Diversity Advocacy Alliance is a welcome initiative to amplify diverse voices in the High Point Market,” said Tom Conley, President and CEO of HPMA. “HPMA is aligned with the DAA mission to cultivate an enabling environment for all market participants.”

“We are excited to partner with DAA, to listen and learn, and to foster inclusivity across High Point Market and across the industry,” adds Conley.

Hosting its first event open to registered attendees at the High Point Market, DAA kicks off its inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable, hosted in partnership with HPMA, at Congdon Yards, 410 W. English Road on Sunday, October 23 at 4 p.m. .

Panelists include DAA committee members and BIPOC design community representatives Patti Carpenter (moderator), Erick Brown, Rachel Moriarty, Ashley Ross and Victoria Sanchez.

The conference will aim to identify what authentic representation within the business community entails and conclude with a conversation about the role cultural design will play in its future growth.

“It was a genuine pleasure to work with HPMA and this creative team at BIPOC on DAA,” says Patti Carpenter, Director of Carpenter + Company and Chair of the DAA Committee. “This is a very necessary initiative. It affects our lives and our livelihoods, but more importantly, it affects our entire creative community.“

“We know the issues around these topics are there and it’s incumbent on us to work together to bring about real and lasting change,” adds Carpenter. “A change that will impact us all and improve business in the future.”

After the roundtable, a networking reception with light refreshments begins at 5:00 p.m. and will include participation from the full roster of DAA committee members:
