BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Tickets are now available for Habitat Bucks’ “Hard Hats & High Heels” dinner and auction, which raises money for affordable housing in Bucks County.
This year, Jeff Devlin of HGTV, Magnolia Network and Discovery Channel will host the event.
A big contributor to the event’s success is the “Designer Challenge”, in which eight Bucks County artisans and artists will transform ordinary items donated by Habitat ReStore into one-of-a-kind creations to be auctioned off at the event.
“We are excited to resume our biggest fundraising event of the year, which supports our mission to provide affordable property in Bucks County,” said Executive Director Florence Kawoczka. “The funds raised by this event are critical to our ability to make our homeownership and home repair programs available to hard-working, low-income families in Bucks County.”
Some Habitat owners shared what their home meant to their families in a press release.
“[Guests] will help people like us become homeowners, and you will have a profound impact on the trajectory of another family,” they wrote.
Founded in 1990, Habitat Bucks’ mission is “Building Communities, Empowering Families”. Since then, it has built or completely renovated 123 affordable homes in Bucks County through its homeownership program, which offers low-income families the opportunity to build strength, stability and self-sufficiency by building associating with Habitat.
Additionally, revenue from Habitat Bucks ReStores provides a sustainable source of funding for building and repairing homes.
Habitat Bucks also has an open door policy: anyone who believes everyone deserves decent, affordable housing is welcome to volunteer to lend a hand.
The event will take place on April 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Warrington.
Tickets can be purchased online, where guests can also preview auction items. All Silent Auction items, including the Designer Challenge, will also be available for online auction.
Hard Hats & High Heels main sponsors include Johnson & Johnson, Penn Community Bank, Parx Casino and Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages.
