PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Attention Rabbit Lovers – KOIN 6 News has a story for you.
A Portland woman with a background in design and architecture has used her time during the pandemic to create mod-looking furniture and homes for bunnies to eat and play in.
Betty and Elvis, the Southeast Portland Bunnies, roam freely around their home. But for alone time and meals, they have a pretty neat place to hang out.
“We are thrilled to introduce the world’s first litter box cover cabinet designed for free-roaming pet rabbits,” said Jeni Nguyen, Founder of Bink Rabbit Goods.
Nguyen founded Bink Rabbit Products during the pandemic after building a prototype of what she calls a “litter box solution” for living with house rabbits.
“Their water dishes are out in the open and everything, which is great, ‘…lots of room for a bunny,” she said. “I wanted to find a different solution that worked better with my lifestyle, my aesthetic and my style.”
Nguyen launched an online fundraising campaign and almost tripled the amount they had targeted. It then started production of the two models in different sizes for customers.
Nguyen is a responsible rabbit property advocate and says that rabbits should not be left in their enclosures for too long.
“It was a creative outlet for me that snowballed into something bigger and the more I dug into it the more I realized it was a really big opportunity and something fun for me to pursue,” she said.
